What is the solar PV Dutch market?

Why is the Netherlands important to the European solar industry?
Important because the EU is heavily committed to greater energy independence by increasing competitiveness in net-zero technology. By taking concrete action now, the Netherlands can be at the forefront of the European solar industry, which will provide a crucial economic and strategic advantage on the long term.
Is BAPV solar PV mandatory in the Netherlands?
There are no mandatory measures for BAPV solar PV in the Netherlands other than the BENG norm for newly build houses which have to almost energy neutral. This implies often the installation of a certain amount of solar PV depending on the energy profile of the finished house and installations.
What is solar NL?
In 2023 the National Growth Fund proposal Solar NL was granted with 300 Million government support. It aims to develop national high efficiency solar cells and light weight modules production for niche markets. It contains three program lines;
Who owns the smart meter in the Netherlands?
The smart meter roll out in the Netherlands was delegated to the regional grid operators who own the installed meters and which are regulated by the ACM and AP (authority personal/private data) together. Storage capacity is very limited in the flat country and one of the main focus points of policy together with the increasing grid congestion.
