Maldives Energy Storage Smart Grid

The Maldivian government has signed a landmark agreement to deploy 38 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery energy storage systems (BESS) alongside energy management systems (EMS) across 18 residential islands, as part of its transition to renewable energy. Major PV inverter manufacturer Sungrow has installed a hybrid solar-diesel-storage system for five islands in the Maldives, consisting of 2.7MWp of solar and 700kW/33kWh of energy storage.
