What is a portable ladder?
A portable ladder is primarily used for gaining access to areas above or below the ground, or other levels that are not provided with permanent access.
Can a ladder be used near a power line?
Ladders used near powerlines should be non-conducting types, such as timber (without wire reinforcement or with the wire reinforcement recessed and insulated) or reinforced plastic (includes fibreglass), but not metal. Refer to the Code of practice for work near overhead power lines (catalogue no. WC01394).
Should you use a portable ladder if you fall?
The potential for injury in a fall is significant – you should only consider using a portable ladder if other alternatives, such as scaffolding or elevating work platforms, are not reasonably practicable. There are limits to the safe use of ladders and they should not be used for working at heights of 6 metres or more.
What is ladder monitor?
The Ladder Monitor is an application that is independent of the user project. It can be started from events, actions, and subroutines. Since the user project is hidden while the Ladder Monitor monitor is starting up, design your application so that a problem will not occur even if it is hidden.
Can a monitor flow while pinned to a ladder?
The monitor can still flow while pinned to the intermediate ladder section. What is described here is referred to as a pinnable waterway. Horizontal travel of the monitor is usually limited to 90° left and right or less, to avoid hitting the ladder and limiting the side loading of the ladder due to the stream’s reaction force.
How far away should a ladder be from a power line?
Refer to the Code of practice for work near overhead power lines (catalogue no. WC01394). Keep metal or wire-reinforced ladders at least three metres clear of powerlines (or any electrical conductors). Beware of overhead powerlines when putting a ladder into position.
