The aim of this paper is to understand the impact of SPV rooftop installation on the Urban thermal environment and temperature profiles in different urban settings in Pune city.
Can rooftop photovoltaic solar panels lower temperature in Kolkata?
Here we show that, in Kolkata, city-wide installation of these rooftop photovoltaic solar panels could raise daytime temperatures by up to 1.5 °C and potentially lower nighttime temperatures by up to 0.6 °C.

Given that the thermal performance and PV efficiency of roofs are both dependent on temperature, enhancing these performance metrics by creating cooling effects through configuration changes is possible.
