With VC as electrolyte additive the initial areal capacity is comparable to the FEC electrolyte at low current rates of 0.25 mA/cm 2 and at mass loadings of 3 mg/cm 2, but higher current rates of 0.5 or even 1 mA/cm 2 cause a drastic drop of the capacity.

Moreover, our search in Scopus database manifests that in the years ranging from 2001 to 2021, the number of articles published on using VC in rechargeable batteries has been 409 (Fig. 1 b). As evidenced by the Fig. 1 c, China (285 patents), Japan (227 patents), and The United States (102 patents) are the most leading countries in this area.

Overall, global investment in those sectors jumped nearly three-fold to $10.1 billion last year, including capital funding, public equity market and debt financing. Venture capital is laying out big on battery storage companies, increasing investment there more than 500 percent from $1.6 billion in 2020 to $8.8 billion.
Should VC additive be used in post-Lib batteries?
Despite inconsiderable studies conducted on the investigation of VC additive in post-LIBs, particularly KIBs and Li-S batteries, the vast majority of them have been concentrated on LIBs. Furthermore, LIBs technology is already mature, and any effort in this direction aims to improve their performance.
